Abstract
Sustainability is rapidly becoming a buzzword in ELT globally, and this talk will
explore three themes.
Firstly we will attempt to define sustainability in the ELT context and then explore the
role of teacher educators in both helping teachers to embed sustainability in their
work, and to being sustainable in themselves. The third part of the talk will ask
participants to outline work they are doing in the area and to consider what some of
the barriers they have encountered are.
